Tampa is the ideal destination for a golf holiday and is well known for its golf courses. It has many high-profile courses to choose from and resorts like Innisbrook Golf Resort and Saddlebrook Resort. One can challenge themselves at a PGA Tour stop, or enjoy the surroundings at another top-notch course. However, many famous golfers own property in the city and play on its golf courses, including Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Jack Nicklaus, and Rickie Fowler.

However, the recent incident has put it in the wrong spot.

The golf cart incident that made the Police Chief resign

Everyone is equal before the law, regardless of  whether you are rich or poor. Even actual legislation can’t skip the after-effects of breaking a rule. Even though it is not always the same, this past weekend, justice was served. Tampa police chief, Mary O’Connor, was placed on administrative leave and later handed over his resignation. She just wanted to avoid minor discomfort by avoiding traffic rules. Connor flashed her badge to another officer to avoid a traffic stop while driving a golf cart without a license plate on a public road.

Last month, a Pinellas County sheriff’s deputy stopped Mary O’Connor and her husband near the gated neighborhood. In the body cam, it is visible that Connor was asking to be let go because of her position. “I’m hoping you’ll just let us go tonight,” she said to the deputy while she introduced herself and flashed her badge. Connor also asked the deputy if his body cam was on, and when he replied yes, she said, “I’m the police chief in Tampa.” In the statement released by her office, “abuse of position or identification” is also mentioned as her wrong actions.

On Monday, the Mayor of Tampa revealed his comments on the embarrassing event. According to him, she broke the law and will be treated equally. “Chief O’Connor will go through the due process and face appropriate discipline,” said the mayor.

When did the incident happen?

According to the video, the incident occurred on November 12 in a suburb outside of Tampa, Florida’s third-largest city. They made the video public last week. Mrs. O’Connor and her husband explained that they would pick up food. But the fault was that they rode in an unauthorized vehicle on the street. However, in her defense, she said that she does not typically drive her automobile on public roadways; therefore, they were in a golf cart.
