Jenny Shin nearly missed out on the Chevron Championship—but this time. Interestingly, it wasn’t due to injury or the health issues that had sidelined her from several tournaments in the past. Instead, the trouble was with her golf bag. While traveling, she temporarily lost it! But fortunately, it’s now recovered just in time.
Shin recently shared a story on Instagram, saying, “Agent putting on the tag, I tell her not to put it there because it might come off. She tells me and sends off my golf bag, only to lose my bag, and now my bag is ‘lost,’ and cannot be found. What a way to start my first major.” Shin was en route to Texas for the Chevron Championship but lost her golf bag at the airport. The reason? Because the staff failed to attach the tag correctly.
Although her participation in the season’s first major seemed uncertain, it’s no longer an issue. That’s right, not long after posting the story, the golfer found her bag. She shared this positive update on her Instagram story and excitedly wrote, “What a legend mate, went extra hundred miles to find my bag and get it to me by tomorrow. I am so grateful, thank you @alohakev.” Someone named Kevin helped Shin find her bag, and now she can be at ease.

Jenny Shin turned pro back in 2011 and has spent more than a decade on the greens. She last won a title back in 2016 at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout, which remains her sole win on the LPGA Tour. Now that she has recovered her golf bag, Jenny Shin is excited and ready to give it her all at the Chevron Championship. She’ll be looking to improve on her performance from last year, when she finished tied for 57th. Had she not found her bag, it would have continued the unfortunate history of withdrawals.

Jenny Shin finds it hard to consistently be on the greens
If Shin hadn’t found her bag, there was a high chance the golfer might have had to miss out on the major. Last year, she withdrew from three tournaments, citing different reasons. Starting with the inaugural FM Championship. Just after the first round of the tournament, she strained her left QL muscle. That accident forced her to exit the tournament early. Later, she posted an update on Instagram with an apology. Following that, the unfortunate fate of withdrawal hit her again at the LPGA Maybank Championship.

Just like the FM Championship, the golfer only played the first round and abruptly exited after. This time, she didn’t talk about any reasons for withdrawing. Fast forward to this year, the golfer was forced to withdraw from the 2025 HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore due to a concerning health issue. Hopefully, the fate of withdrawal won’t repeat itself, and the golfer will manage to stay strong throughout the tournament.
