Last year’s Mexico Open runner-up Tony Finau, displayed great consistency to claim his sixth victory on the PGA Tour. Last year, the World no. 11 came incredibly close to winning at the Vidanta Vallarta but ended up losing the trophy to Spain’s Jon Rahm.

The tables turned this year as Finau prevented the World No. 1 Rahm from winning the tournament for the second time in a row. Despite their rivalry on the greens, both golfers share a beautiful camaraderie off the field. After the PGA Tour event drew to an end on Sunday, fans couldn’t help but praise a graceful Rahm for displaying “all class” despite his loss.

Jon Rahm is, without a doubt, the hottest player in the world at the moment. The golfer entered 2023 with seven PGA Tour wins in his bag, including one U.S. Open win. This year, however, he has already added four more trophies to the bag, which includes the highly-coveted Masters title.

Last week, the golfer arrived at Vidanta to defend his Mexico Open win but was bested by fellow golfing compatriot Tony Finau. Despite his loss, Rahm was all smiles as he congratulated Finau for his win. In a picture shared by @pgatour on Instagram, both golfers can be seen sharing a brief wholesome moment.

Finau finished with a record total of 24-under 260, also moving 5 places up from his previous 16th spot on the OWGR. The 33-year-old golfer took home an incredible $1,386,000 in winnings for his excellent outing.

Meanwhile, Rahm, who finished solo second with a total of 21-under 263, won $839,300 out of the $7.7 million prize purse. The 2023 Masters winner’s friendly nature prompted many fans to commend him for his “sportsmanship.

World No. 1 Rahm impresses fans with his humble behavior

Last month, Rahm won the hearts of golf fans when he paid homage to the late Spaniard and golfing legend Seve Ballesteros. Fans also couldn’t help but notice his warm and friendly demeanor during the 2023 Mexico Open.

Rahm is quickly becoming the most loved golfer on tour. All class all the time,” wrote one fan. After a hectic few weeks of golf, the Spaniard is now set to miss out on next week’s Wells Fargo Championship. “Gracious in defeat and victory! Good measure of a man,” commented another.

Damn, Rahm is just on 🔥 even without the W, he’s still there on top👏,” commented one golf enthusiast. This year, Rahm returned to the top of the world rankings after clinching the Genesis Invitational title in February. He then followed it with a Major win in April. “Main reason most of us love golf as much as we do.”

“That’s great to see. Perfect sportsmanship,” noted one Instagram user about Rahm and Finau’s bond on the course. “That’s how champions conduct themselves…that’s first class stuff right there.”
