Akshay Bhatia is living the dream in his second season on the PGA Tour. A win at the Valero Texas Open and a T2 at the Rocket Mortgage. What an excellent feat for a 22-year-old golfer among experienced pros, right? Well, looks like that might not be it for him. The World No. 31 is part of the field at the 2024 Hero World Challenge, with nineteen other top players, and his performance has been commendable in the first two rounds.

After carding two bogeys and compensating them with seven birdies, he scored a 5-under on Thursday. Friday was an even better round. He carded only one bogey on the eighth hole, and with seven birdies, he is at 6-under and is currently tied for T2 with Justin Thomas. Notably, Bhatia and Thomas are just two strokes away from Scottie Scheffler. Everyone knows that good equipment plays a pivotal role in the golfer’s journey. So, what is helping the Indian-American professional in excelling on the greens?

Akshay Bhatia is signed with Callaway. His main companion when teeing off is the Callaway Rogue ST Max LS Driver (9°), which he uses with a Fujikura Ventus Black 7-X shaft. With its high MOI head, which gives lower spin and a stronger trajectory, it has helped him make it to the top 30 of the total driving list with a field average of 138. It is priced at $449.99 but is currently available for $349.99 on the official website.

The 22-year-old uses the Callaway Paradym Ai-Smoke (15°) for his fairway woods with a Fujikura Ventus Black 8-X shaft. These are the best choices for players who want to have a consistent launch and a neutral ball fight. The Fairway woods are priced at $349.99 but are currently available for $299.99.

He also has a Callaway Apex UW Prototype (19 degrees), which he uses with the Fujikura Ventus Black 10-X shaft. He also keeps the Callaway X Forged UT (21°) with a KBS $-Taper 125 S+ shaft in his bag to bridge the gap between his fairway woods and irons.

Have an interesting take?

For the irons, Akshay Bhatia uses a set of Callaway Apex TCB ’21 Irons (5-PW) with KBS $-Taper 125 S+ shafts. Combining the latest in technology, the ’24 TCB features a 1025 tour cavity back body. The soft feel this iron gives is unparalleled. This also helps golfers to get optimal ball flight and control. Even Xander Schauffele uses these and has won two majors this season. They are priced at a whopping $2030.00, which is a little over the board but gives good performance.

What else is there in Bhatia’s bag?

Akshay Bhatia uses Callaway Jaws Raw Wedges (50°-10S, 54°-10S, and 60°-8C) with KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 135 X shafts. These are available from somewhere between $149.99 to $179.99. These take spin and control to new heights by combining offset groove-in-groove technology with the most aggressive grooves in golf, delivering a controlled “one hop and stop” trajectory.
