Charley Hull is “healthy and ready to go.” The 28-year-old is more fired up than ever to take on the 2024 AIG Women’s Open. During the press conference, Hull opened up about her journey back to peak physical condition, and it’s clear she’s indeed ready. Just weeks ago, before the Olympics, a nasty fall in the shower left her with a shoulder injury and a diagnosis of degenerative arthritis.
But despite this setback, she showed renewed strength and a positive attitude. She admitted that her return to competition after a five-week break got off to a nervous start at the Olympics. “The first round of the Olympics was more just because of nerves,” she confessed. “I have all my, like, little checkpoints. And at home, I was playing some great golf. But it was just, like, the first round of the Olympics; I don’t know why.”
However, Hull quickly found her footing, playing under par in the last three rounds. But the damage was done, and she had to settle for a 1-over-par T-27 finish. The LPGA star also shared that her degenerative arthritis in her shoulder can cause stiffness in cold weather, but she’s proactively managing the condition.
Her momentum didn’t stop at the Olympics. Her recent stint was the ISPS Handa Women’s Open where she impressed everyone with an impressive 5th-place finish. “I was back to myself and carried it on last week,“ she said. Now, with her health concerns largely under control, Hull is focused on redemption at the 2024 AIG Women’s Open. Moreover, her intense training adds up to her grind, which she had shared a week ago.

Reflecting on Hull’s 2023 AIG Women’s Open performance
Charley Hull’s runner-up finish last year at Walton Heath Golf Club still stings, but it fueled her hunger. She tied for the lead with Lilia Vu at 9-under, going into the final round. However, her momentum was halted by two early bogeys on holes 3 and 4. Despite a strong effort, Hull couldn’t catch up and ultimately acquired a solid runner-up spot, one shot ahead of South Korean Jiyai Shin.

She congratulated Vu, who named her cat “Walton” a memorabilia for her major win. “(Lilia) played unbelievable and I just don’t feel like I got a break to be fair. I didn’t feel anything went my way, even some lies that I had and I was running out of steam at the end.“
