Over the past two years, technology has exploded like crazy, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI). It has even managed to make its way into the domain of sports. This has helped tremendously to analyze the performances of athletes to enable better tuning of skills. It also helps to create equipment, for in this case, golf clubs. as many golf clubs are nowadays created with the use of AI, as AI helps to create drivers that are fine-tuned to a player’s specific play style. This has not only helped in better performances but also created a much more competitive playing field.

In a recent incident involving a former LPGA star, an AI tool was able to call her out for her stroking mistakes. Sounds unbelievable, yet true at the same time.

Michelle Wie West, a retired LPGA pro with 22 years of experience, got roasted by AI this morning. As she hit the ball in front of a big screen, AI told the 35-year-old she needed “20 more degrees of hip turn at impact.” Reposting the same West wrote in her story, “My back is tight OKKK? 🤣🤣 “ And we totally get it! The golfing pro retired last year and gave birth to her second child in October. No wonder why her back is tight!

West also tagged Sportsbox AI, the creator of that AI bot. Sportsbox AI is an AI-powered tech company that develops AI Coach mobile apps for sports and fitness. Their 3D Motion Analysis and Kinematic AI technology are patent-pending. But what might intrigue you is that the application has different features for all. Be it a player, a coach, or a full-fledged golfing studio, Soundbox has got it all covered.

Golfers have been using the app enthusiastically, including big names like Bryson DeChambeau, Sean Foley who’s coached the 15X major champion, Tiger Woods, Lydia Ko, Lee Westwood, and other PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, and LIV Golf pros. Now Michelle Wie West has also joined the list!

But here’s the fun part! West wasn’t alone when AI roasted her. Her best friend Aliya Fowler and Olympic friend, Michael Phelps were with her, laughing and joking around. West’s friend, Aliya posted the story first, writing, “laughing at your friend who is a golf legend like you can do it better,” admitting that even though she is not a professional, Soundbox AI’s comment just broke her into laughing.

Honestly, that’s what your best friends do: prank you the most and love you the most. Speaking of pranks, this wasn’t the first time West’s friends pulled one on her. Remember that time Michael Phelps pranked her with a rubber snake? Classic!
