The USGA will hold the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, which is arguably the most eagerly anticipated venue for this annual competition. Just like last year, amid the clashes of uncertainty due to the recent merger between golf leagues and PIF, US Open will welcome top-tier competition. Among many stars who will grace the greens, Brooks Koepka will also open his third major championship of the season.

The Florida native is one of the most anticipated players for the US Open. The credit goes to his brilliant victory at the 2023 PGA Championship. Koepka managed to clinch his fifth major championship and take home the Wanamaker Trophy. Now, as the golfer prepares for the Los Angeles debutant course, viewers have certain speculations about the star.

One of the Twitter users named Nosferatu also chimed in with the number game. The account tweeted, “The average world rankings of the #USOpen winners in the last 5 years was ~13. The average world rankings of the #USOpen winners in the last 10 years was ~13. The current #13 in #OWGR is… @BKoepka“.

This implied that the average rankings of those who have been crowned before at the US Open for the past five years and a decade has been 13. Brooks Koepka’s current OWGR standing is 13. While this number isn’t mostly considered a lucky number according to numerous mythologies, for Koepka it just might be a positive sign.

Another number feat for Koepka to achieve with a probable US Open win

According to CBS Sports, if the PGA Champion of 2023 manages to register his name for the 123rd US Open, he is likely to achieve more than what most golfers aspire for. This will inscribe his name among the players who have accomplished 6 major tournament wins including Phil Mickelson.

Coincidently, Mickelson has never won any US Open despite having six tournament wins to his name. On the other hand, Koepka has previously won the US Open consecutively in 2017 and 2018. At that time, his rank before the start of the tournament was 22 and 9 respectively.

After all, the game will witness star golfers and their remarkable skills taking on the classical course of LACC. Some other fan favorites for the third championship include the current World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, and others.
