2022 was a good year for several professional golfers. For Scottie Scheffler, the year brought him his first win, followed by three other titles, including a major. And Cameron Smith had the opportunity to become the 150th Open Championship winner. On the contrary, one of the most popular American golfers, Rickie Fowler, had a rather uneventful year until recently.
It has been only a day since Golf Digest released the top 10 most searched golf entities of 2022. And despite having a winless year, the Florida-based 33-year-old golfer managed to find a spot in it.

The American Express was the first event Rickie Fowler played in 2022. Ever since then, he has attended 22 events till now and has failed to cut nine times. The only top 10 result he had was at the Fortinet Championship (T6) and the Zozo Championship (T2).
Notably, he didn’t have a good season since 2018-2019, in which he had his last victory. Yet, with an 8.85 search interest index, the 5-time PGA Tour champion got 10th place in the list.
Unlike other players on the Tour, Fowler has a vast fan following. His complete orange outfit and energetic and playful personality have made him one of the popular players in America. Hence, even a small improvement from him, including a top-5 finish in months, can make him the main topic of discussion in no time.

“I’m not saying I’m for sure here, or I’m going to go there,” Fowler said in June before the inaugural LIV event after revealing the league officials contacted him. “I’m going to just kind of leave my options open,” he added. “And see how things play out.”
He didn’t have a clear response when the question about his possible contention in the Saudi-backed league arose. This led many to believe Fowler would be one of the first to join the Series by leaving the PGA Tour behind. This also led him to be on the top list of the most searched golfers.
