The recent LIV Golf event in Australia has been everything it promised and more! From the stunning shots played at the historic Grange course to the brilliance brought out in the team events, the Adelaide event has arguably been LIV’s most successful one yet. And the fans and public aren’t the only ones who feel that way; the players enjoyed every bit of it too. Especially Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson, the stars of the 4Aces GC, for whom the event has boosted hopes for the future.

Dustin Johnson voices his excitement for LIV’s future

Neither Reed nor DJ has yet found an individual win in the series this season. But both of their performances have certainly been noteworthy recently. On Sunday this week too, they both placed in the top 10 of the Adelaide events, with Reed at 3rd and Johnson, who took home the most prize money in the league last year, at 10th.

But even bigger was their finish at this week’s LIV team event. The 4 Aces found victory for the first time this season. They beat out the RangeGoats GC to take home the win and the $5,000,000 that goes with it. While, of course, the win was a fantastic moment, the two American stars enjoyed every other aspect of the event too.

On Sunday, after their win, the pair even expressed how the event excited them about the Saudi-backed league’s future. “I thought this is what it would get to,” said DJ, talking about how he had always envisioned LIV events in the post match interview. “Hopefully we’ll continue this for more events because this was incredible.”

DJ’s four-ace teammate too shared the two-time major winner’s enthusiasm. “I agree,” he stated. “I can see it like this, and honestly, for us to get to this point this fast, I could see it getting even better, bigger.” Clearly, the Australian event has set quite a high bar of expectations for the defectors.

The new series now heads to another continent, Asia, for its event that starts next week in Singapore. But the big question remains–will the event be able to keep up with the standards that the Aussies set this week? Only time will tell.
