Steven Alker secures emotional victory at Insperity Invitational
Steven Alker recently won the Insperity Invitational at the woodlands country club. PGAtourchampions’s Instagram page recently posted a video of an interviewer asking him, “Steven what a win and you pointed when you won. You pointed to the sky and the fans here, and up here, your longtime caddie Sam Workman, passed away earlier this year. He’s from Houston. A lot of his family and friends are out following you around this week. What did this mean to you for Sam?”
To which he emotionally replied, “Yeah it’s huge. You obviously see the emotion on 18 but I just saw a sea of orange today and it just reminded me of Sam. I mean I had my son on the bag. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than that.”
they captioned the video, “A win extra special for Steven Alker.”

Workman’s family and friends made their way to the country club to cheer on Alker in his memory. Dozens of them wore Houston Astros jerseys, Workman’s favorite baseball team, and PGA Tour Champions players wore ribbons with the Astros logo. Alker, who had his son on the bag for the first time this week, said he saw a “sea of orange” in the crowd and was reminded of his caddie.
Steven worked with Workman for the first time on the Korn Ferry Tour in the Bahamas in 2019. In 2022, Alker won the Charles Schwab Cup, a significant victory for a golfer who had started to find success later in his career.
