Sports and rivalries are two terms often used synonymously with each other. An apt example of it has been Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson. Ever since joining LIV Golf, the two have been in a constant battle to outplay the other. However, despite the cut-throat rivalry, Smith and Johnson have made sure to cover it up with a blanket of grace.
Yesterday, the 18th of September, Cameron Smith swiftly headed to the top of the leaderboard, winning the Chicago leg of the LIV Golf. Adding a whopping $4 million to his earnings, the former World No. 2 indulged in a media interaction. During the interaction, he opened up about his brewing on-course rivalry with Dustin Johnson.

Cameron Smith goes all praise for Dustin Johnson
Conversing with Smith, the media representative questioned, “Do you think you and Dustin, are the two dominant forces that could create a rivalry here?”
As mentioned earlier, the two have made sure to cover their rivalry with a blanket of grace. This was no different. Responding to the question, Smith asserted, “I think he’s (Dustin Johnson) probably the one on the group of players that you look at. You think he’ll be pretty close to the top of the leaderboard everywhere.” “I hope he thinks the same about me. Hopefully, we can keep this going,” Smith further added.

The win rightly comes in as an answer to Dustin Johnson’s win in Boston earlier this month. Walking down memory lane, Johnson came out victorious in the Boston leg of LIV Golf that took place from 2nd to 4th September. While Johnson secured the top spot with a score of -15, Cameron Smith closely followed on T4 with a score of -14.
In terms of teams, Johnson led 4 Aces GC tops the leaderboard with a score of -32. On the contrary, Smith led Punch GC, with a score of -23, and sits on T6.
