Johnson’s decision to bring in players like Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, and Rickie Fowler has caused a stir. Notably, these selections saw some players outside the top 12, like Keegan Bradley, being overlooked.

The focus of much of the discussion is the perceived oversight of 6 golfers who automatically qualified through points and the other 6 players were to be selected by the captain, raising questions about Johnson’s strategy and vision for the US team. Veteran golfer Lee Westwood has voiced his perspective on social media, hinting that, “If Zach Johson would have gone straight down the list he would have had a great team.”

He further elaborated saying, “He clearly has a plan in mind and picked 2 outside of that 12. Which is a captain’s prerogative. He continued that there will be extra pressure on the players not doing that great by stating, “There is however extra pressure when your a pick and not playing well.”

Bradley wrapped up the season by ranking 11th. Despite this, he didn’t make it to the team. He was overlooked in favor of three players ranked higher than him Brooks Koepka at No. 7, Jordan Spieth at No. 8, and Collin Morikawa at No. 10, and three who were ranked lower than Bradley, Sam Burns at No. 12, Rickie Fowler at No. 13, and Justin Thomas at No. 15.
