Last year, Sergio Garcia was among the many big names to join Greg Norman’s Saudi-backed breakaway series, LIV Golf. The 43-year-old drew much criticism for his reported $40,000,000 defection, but he appears to be perfectly content with his decision.
So, how does the 2017 Masters winner feel about LIV Golf expanding into new destinations? “I think it’s great. I think it’s something that it’s amazing for the game,” shared Garcia ahead of his appearance at the Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore.
“To make it as global as possible, that’s always the goal that we have, make our game as big and as worldwide as you can,” said the Spaniard. “LIV obviously has taken a good opportunity of doing that, and they should be very proud of that.”
Earlier, LIV Golf had announced that Real Club Valderrama in Spain would host a tournament from 30th June to 2nd July this year. Garcia, who is also the captain of Fireballs GC, has an excellent track record in Valderrama, winning tournaments in 2011, 2017 and 2018.
