LIV Golf makes another shocking move

The players shifted to the new league for the lucrative deals that LIV had to offer. However, there were also certain setbacks for the players in making the decision. And one of the biggest setbacks that the players had to face was the inability to earn OWGR points. OWGR points are necessary for any player to qualify for major tournaments.

But after the players left the PGA Tour, they lost the ability to earn OWGR points and play in major tournaments. However, recent revelations explain that LIV Golf is trying to help its players get access to OWGR points once again.
A recent update on Twitter said, “(LIV Golf) is in advanced discussions about adding a cut to the Jeddah Invitational. This is a major hurdle for world ranking points and would likely be enough for them to be awarded.” LIV golf is all set to host its next event in Jeddah. And according to the news, Greg Norman is putting in all his power to avail OWGR points for the players at the event.
Did LIV players receive OWGR points in the Thailand event?
According to the news, Greg Norman had made a “strategic alliance” with the MENA Tour. This allowed the MENA Tour to represent the LIV event as one of its own tournaments and therefore allow the players access to OWGR points. However, Norman’s strategy didn’t work out the way he expected it to.

The OWGR announced that it needed to further study the formalized alliance. They said that the MENA Tour had announced “significant changes” in its structure, but the notice was not “sufficient” for them to carry out the operation of the alliance.
