Does Justin Thomas's off-season humor show true resilience after the Presidents Cup snub?

Justin Thomas will not be a part of the team USA at the Presidents Cup. After Jim Furyk announced the six remaining players from the captain’s pick to join those who automatically qualified, Thomas was the highest-profile name to miss out on the list. This will be the first time since 2016 that he will not be representing the Stars & Stripes in an international team competition. Justin Thomas boasts a record of 17-7-4 at the Presidents Cup, yet Furyk opted for Max Homa, Brian Harman, Russell Henley, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, and Keegan Bradley.

However, it seems that whatever happens, happens for a reason, as JT appears to be making full use of the off-season he has been gifted after a hectic 2024 season. “The 2024 season is a wrap. I’m very proud and happy about some signs of improvement that were shown,” wrote the 31-year-old golfer.

After posting the news of wrapping up his 2024 season at the Tour Championship, Justin Thomas has been seen making different plans for his off-season prep. And, well, golf does not seem to be on the list, at least not according to the indications he has been giving. The Florida resident was seen casually hitting bombs with his club at his usual Jupiter Golf Club.

He made a smooth aim for the first ball he hit, as a couple of other balls were aligned to perfect his swing. However, as soon as he aimed to drop the second ball into the hole, his phone fell upside down, and the video was cut off. This was where JT used his humor and wrote, “Is this my phone’s way of telling me to stop practicing and go watch football?”

Watching a football match is not the only thing on his agenda. Although he is bummed about not being part of the US team, he will still be rooting for them and watching the match. “Jim has put together a great team. I will be the first one pulling for them and watching while using it as motivation to not miss a team event again as they are some of my favorite weeks I’ve had,” said JT. But it seems his plans for the remainder of the season go beyond sports.

Justin Thomas married the love of his life, Jillian Wisniewski, in November 2022. Almost two years later, the couple is finally expecting their first child at the end of November this year. It seems it was indeed a sign for the American professional to take some time off the course and spend more time with his family.

There is no better time for him to take his responsibilities for the country off his shoulders and make himself available for his wife and child. “It’ll be nice to have some time to work on things, foundation event, some R&R, and even becoming a dad at the end of November,” wrote an excited JT.

Do you think Jim Furyk made the right decision excluding Justin Thomas from the 2024 Presidents Cup? Or will Team USA have to pay a price for this decision? Stay tuned to find out!
