Spieth became a professional golfer in 2012, and since then, he has developed into one of the PGA Tour’s top players. The 29-year-old is one of the top players who hasn’t participated in the Wells Fargo Championship, despite all of his accomplishments on the big stage. The three-times major winners’ fan community page recently announced the big news on their Twitter handle. Spieth Legion tweeted the big news regarding the American professional finally playing in the Charlotte event for the first time. The tweet read: “J Spieth will play the Wells Fargo Championship for the first time in his career.”

It undoubtedly seemed only a matter of time until the PGA Tour player would really take part in the competition. The Wells Fargo Championship takes place in Charlotte, North Carolina every year, and has been going on since 2003; it usually starts in early May.

Rory Mcllroy, who faced quite a backlash for not playing Sentry Tournament and RBC Heritage, will be looking to repeat his 2021 feat. Even though the year began with forfeiting $3 million of last year’s PIP, it would be interesting to see Mcllroy and the defending champion Max Homa compete for the $20 million prize purse.

The field for the 2023 Wells Fargo championship is interesting in that big names like John Rahm and Scottie Scheffler have decided to sit this one out. With Jordan Spieth heading to Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, one other favorite to look out for is Rickie Fowler.
