Jon Rahm is the latest name in the ledger of a famed LIV Golf critic’s hit list. The Golf Channel analyst has made no secret of his aversion towards LIV Golf. Earlier the veteran presenter traded barbs against Phil Mickelson. In fact, he was not all too happy with Brooks Koepka’s inclusion in the Ryder Cup team either. As one more PGA Tour pro, Jon Rahm looks to join the breakaway league, he is back at it again.

The Spaniard’s alleged defection to the breakaway league has been the talk of the town for the past few days. The current world no. 3 surprisingly bowed out of the Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy touted TGL last month. This time reports have emerged that the 2023 Masters winner looks to join the Greg Norman front, backing down on his earlier comments about his PGAT loyalty. The 61-year-old golf analyst is not all happy about this.

There were rumors that the Spaniard had a $600 million offer in front of him from the PIF-funded league. Earlier today, Flushing It Golf, with well-placed sources in the inner circles, revealed that Rahm has primarily agreed to a five-year deal with LIV Golf. Reportedly, he has the option to join Fireballs GC, headed by his compatriot, Sergio Garcia.

Brandel Chamblee is irked by the alleged volte-face of one of the PGA Tour’s star players. In a lengthy tweet, the veteran analyst wrote that this stands in sharp contrast to Rahm’s earlier comments about his career. “If true, does it not contravene Rahm’s previous comments when he said, “This is my official, my one and only time I’ll talk about this, where I am officially declaring my fealty to the PGA Tour.”

Jon Rahm has earlier spoken about the rumors of him joining the breakaway league. Chamblee quoted the Spanish International as saying, “It’s just not something I believe is the best for me and my future in golf, and I think the best legacy I can accomplish will be with the PGA Tour.” Adding further, he questioned the bankability of Greg Norman’s front and Jon Rahm’s sincerity. “If true does it not prove that the LIV/PIF fund can not be trusted in future negotiations with the Tour… and that Rahm’s word and desire to test himself against the past greats of the game was nothing more than a ruse?

Earlier, the veteran analyst traded barbs with Phil Mickelson. The Jon Rahm episode is the latest one in the long-running saga of Brandel Chamblee going up against the LIV Golfers.

Chamblee’s never-ending battle with Phil Mickelson

In a tweet, the 61-year-old analyst said he had asked Mickelson for a debate, which the Lefty refused. “I offered two dates for Phil, and he turned both down.” Turning the heat a notch higher, he added, “He only unblocked me just recently to pretend he was magnanimous, which given his comments about Rory is far from evident.

Naturally, Phil Mickelson was not the one to take it lightly. The 53-year-old golfer retorted, “Either he is making this up (most likely scenario knowing him) OR he’s talking with someone impersonating me.” This time, it remains to be seen if Phil Mickelson chooses to respond in kind, given the fact that Rahm and Mickelson are known to share a good rapport. In fact, the Lefty’s brother was the Spanish international’s former coach. Moreover, it was reported that Mickelson had direct knowledge of the deal, which he denied vehemently.
