An intriguing incident took place during the 2022 Open Championship. Phil Mickelson was excluded from a dinner party held by R&A. Alan Shipnuck recently tried to shed light on the situation.
An excerpt of ‘LIV and Let Die’ claimed that the entire thing was orchestrated by the legendary golfer Tiger Woods himself. The 82-time PGA Tour winner allegedly didn’t want the LIV defector on the same table while the two leagues had a feud. The write-up also claims that Woods made an effort to reach out to other golfers and get confirmation from them to exclude Mickelson. Then he had a final word with R&A regarding the matter.
Furthermore, Alan Shipnuck claims that Woods has come back with his competitiveness to give a fight to the opponent, LIV Golf. He said, “This battle for the soul of professional golf gave Tiger a purpose.”

Alan Shipnuck talks about the long rivalry between Woods and Mickelson
Alan Shipnuck recently made an appearance on the Fore Play podcast, where he was asked to talk about his views on the PGA-LIV feud. As the conversation proceeded, the author brought the two legendary golfers into context.
He said, “This is just Tiger against Phil all over again. You know, it’s this perpetuation of this 30-year rivalry… Tiger jumps on the jet and rallies the troops, and he’s this inspirational figure, and you know, Phil’s in the back alleys this shadowy dealmaker, you know, all this subterfuge.” Quite evidently, Shipnuck likes commenting on Woods and Mickelson’s bittersweet bond.
