One thing that surely follows after the lucrative move to LIV Golf by a golfer is intense backlash and criticism. Which Tyrrell Hatton is well aware of. When he joined the breakaway circuit only a few days after saying that he was happy at the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, many in the golf world called him a betrayer and a sell-out. It was not something and it is not going to change anytime soon either.
But that was not the only thing that netizens derailed Hatton about. Another issue was the Englishman’s aggressive temperament on the course. If you aren’t aware, Hatton is famous for his f-bombs on the course, whenever he misses a good putt. For these two reasons, there have been negative things said about the 7-time DP World Tour winner. Talking about the same during an interview with the Bunkered, Hatton accepted that everyone was entitled to their opinions.
However, they were turning unacceptably negative. He said, “Unfortunately, it’s just the sad state of the world where people like being very negative towards guys that they see on TV.” He further explained how the golf fans didn’t know the golfers personally yet they were ready to throw as much hatred towards that pro as they wanted to. However, he clarified that the negative comments wouldn’t budge him and said, “It’s not going to change who I am. I’m just being me. It is what it is.”

The extreme action Tyrrell Hatton takes to avoid hate
The golf world, which usually comprises netizens on X, is mostly unapologetically opinionated. Whether it is about LIV Golf contracts or the PGA Tour and PIF merger, there is always something to say. Deemed as a defector now, Tyrrell Hatton knew all about it and the course of action was to remove himself from all social media.

After joining LIV Golf and Jon Rahm’s Legion XII, the 7-time DP World Tour winner revealed, “I deleted Twitter. I mean, I don’t really like social media.” The reason was the hundreds of comments calling him out or giving him advice or just being plain negative. The comments can be brutal and Hatton felt that it was the only solution to avoid it.
He further added, “Twitter’s just, no one seems to have anything good to say, no matter (what). Now, when the tour and even like, comments on the PGA Tour and all that kind of stuff. It’s all it’s just, everyone’s just so negative.” From January 2024 to now, the criticism though has tuned down. Thus, Hatton is also back on social media. He isn’t as active as Max Homa, but he does post sometimes. Whatever the golf world’s reaction might be to Hatton’s on-course antics, he isn’t going to and that’s a fact.
