The LPGA Tour will be turning 75 years old in 2025, and as a result, its force will be competing for a total of $131 million in prize money. It will be hosting thirty events over fourteen states and eleven countries. There will be one of the greatest collaborations between the PGA and LPGA Tours as part of the mixed team at the Grand Thornton Invitational.
2023 marked the first year of this new tournament. Everyone loved it, fans and pros alike. The 2024 edition is scheduled to take place from December 13 to December 15 at the Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida. As it turns out, that is not all for the collaboration of the male golfers with the female pros.
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s brainchild, TGL, will hit the floors in January 2025. CEO of TMRW Sports Mike McCarley revealed plans are brewing to include a women’s competition in TGL. “A push into women’s golf is among the options being considered,” McCarley stated. Now, David Ramsey took to his official X account and reported, “A source tells @FOS that TGL and the LPGA have discussed creating a mixed men’s and women’s event or even a standalone women’s golf league.”

Even the commissioner of the LPGA Tour, Mollie Marcoux Samaann, confirmed that they have been on talking terms for a while. “It will be great to get our athletes in different positions. You know, with different exposure, different innovations in golf. The LPGA should be in every conversation about golf. So we’ve been talking to those guys for a long time, and I think we’ll try to figure something out—how we can work together, whatever that looks like,” added Samaan.

Apart from the brand new collaboration, as it turns out, the LPGA Tour is expanding, anyway. For the 2025 season, it has already announced two debut events in the schedule.

LPGA is heading to the Black Desert Resort too
On November 5, Black Desert Resort was officially announced as the second course in the United States to annually host both a PGA Tour and LPGA Tour event, joining Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida. The LPGA confirmed the news on Wednesday, November 20, marking a significant milestone for the resort and its involvement in elite professional golf. This development highlights the growing partnership between top-tier golf courses and the LPGA’s continued expansion into new markets. The event scheduled to be hosted in May has a total purse of $3 million.
Additionally, the Riviera Maya Open will be hosted for the first time in Mexico, later in May. The Cancun event is yet to have a course announced for its hosting, but it has been confirmed that the total purse of the event will be $2.5 million. This will be the first time the LPGA Tour will be hosting an event in Mexico in seven years.
