Tensions had been at an all-time high as the 2023 Amundi Evian Championship came to a close on Sunday. While the tournament saw a historic and happy moment as a French player lifted the trophy for the first time, it would not have been that joyous for the players who lost out on the race. But even so, they were able to take it in good spirits and move forward.
The same has happened with World No. 2, Nelly Korda, who missed out on the top spot at the major just days after her birthday. However, her loss is followed by some bold words of advice that she has for fans—and surprisingly, it has nothing to do with golf!

Although the 25-year-old could not bring out her desired result at the recent championship, she was able to put aside her feelings of loss and move forward just like a good sportsperson. The 8-time LPGA Tour winner showed off her sportsman spirit, or in this case, her sportswoman spirit, as she took to her social media handle to teach her fans right from wrong the day after the final—not on the course, at home!
In a recent Instagram story by the athlete, she asked her followers to always take off their shoes while entering the home. The story showed her sharing a post that gave a rough map of the world marked in two colors to show the countries that follow the tradition of removing shoes. The color red was used to mark the areas in the world where people would usually take off their footwear, while black was used to denote the opposite.
Korda, an avid shoe lover, clearly believes that shoes are for treading around the house with. They are to be worn outside—in her case, mostly on the course. Her strong advice comes just hours after she left the Evian Championship field with a top-10 finish.

Korda at the Evian Championship
The tournament saw Celine Boutier claim the trophy in a historic moment in the major’s history. Although Korda put up a remarkable performance, she failed to get the result she wished for as she finished at T9 with a score of 5-under-par 279. She took home a reward of $122,100 from the prize purse of $6.5 million, while the French star took home a whopping $1,000,000 for her win!
The world no. 2 saw herself beaten by the French player currently in 15th place in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, who took home the prize purse of $1 million. One can hope that the American LPGA star can move past their previous performances and perform better at the next major, which is set to start soon.
