Sorenstam has never shied away from vocalizing her feelings about female golfers’ challenges on and off the course. This time, she has spoken out in support of the golfers who competed at the NCAA D3 Women’s Golf Championship. Per reports, the event’s third round was canceled due to an unplayable pin position, despite over half the 151-player field having completed their rounds.

The incident occurred on the par-4 6th hole of Florida’s Mission Inn & Resort’s El Campeon Golf Course, where the pin was placed on a severe slope. Videos from the round showed putts by golfers coming up just short of the hole before rolling back 10 to 15 feet.

According to Brentley Romine of Golf Channel, the hole had been carved on a 5 percent slope, and the course’s staff even watered it to bring down its severity. Regardless, the NCAA went on to cancel the third round in its entirety.
