Whatever a sportsman’s career and life may appear to be; they are all human in the end. They have the same feelings we do and can suffer from the same mental and physical ailments. This reality hit John Daly in 2020 when he was diagnosed with cancer. The five-time PGA Tour winner has not had great luck when it comes to injuries. But there was a positive side to his cancer.

John Daly has more news coverage than most golfers. The American golfer had a bet with his friend, Fuzzy Zoeller, who said he would not live to see 50. The two-time major winner collected $150,000 from him. Daly, 56, was diagnosed with cancer a little more than two years ago.

In 2020, John revealed that he was diagnosed with bladder cancer. But all was not bad; fortunately, the cancer was treatable. “The only positive is this cancer is treatable, but I’m probably looking at chemo for the next five to seven years,” said Daly.
The first session of chemotherapy was rough on John. He said, “The first chemo kicked my butt. I’m just praying maybe they got it.” But that wasn’t the case. Chemo wasn’t the only addition to John’s life. Cancer also revealed everything that was wrong with his diet and other habits. “Everything I love to eat and drink causes the stones that causes the cancer,” he said and went on to name them: “Alcohol. Beef. Milk. Diet drinks.” Daly had to cut back on smoking as well.

Besides cancer, Daly has not been in the best physical condition either. Earlier this year, in September, he had to retire from the Sanford International due to a knee injury. He tweeted, “I know the fans knew I was in pain. Looking like surgery on my left knee.”
He also fractured two ribs and separated his shoulder during a pitch invasion at the Honda Classic in 2007. Long John claimed just as he was about to strike the ball, a spectator jumped in front of him to get a picture. Daly tried to stop his swing and ended up hitting behind the ball, leading to his injuries.
