Nelly Korda hasn’t had the best of seasons this year. Her performance and form took a deep dip right around the midway, and her back pain also contributed to her struggles. While we can’t clearly understand how much of the impact was because of her injuries, they probably played a crucial role. 

After the underwhelming Solheim Cup, Korda had almost disappeared off the grid until now. She even skipped the past three LPGA events that happened post-Solheim. With her high-pressure return at the BMW Ladies Championship, she is giving hope to her fans with her adapted strategy.

Nelly Korda picks up on Charley Hull’s strategy

A tweet from a fan page of Nelly Korda recently spoke about her promising performance at the BMW Ladies Championship. Another tweet relating to this mentioned that she might use the AimPoint technique for putting. AimPoint is a technique that involves analyzing the ball waiting for a putt, the hole, and the ground between. 

For the unversed, the process works somewhat like this. The player crouches on the green with the center of their vision aimed at the ball. An analysis of the slope of the putt, and the distance between the ball and the hole helps the player. 

The player then aims at a spot away from the hole and hits the ball at a certain measured speed. Ideally, the ball should slope its way to the aimed spot but take a detour to land in the hole. 

Apparently, 200-plus Tour Pros use this technique. As for the LPGA, Charley Hull famously follows this technique. AimPoint coaches have even advertised Hull’s performances as a testimony to how efficient the technique is.

Nelly Korda’s return at the BMW Championship might serve as a comeback

After skipping the Walmart Arkansas event, the Ascendant event, and the recent Shanghai event, Nelly Korda finally returned to compete at the ongoing BMW Championship. 

In the first round, she scored a bogey and a birdie from the first nine. Entering the second nine with some pressure, she suffered a bogey on the tenth hole. However, she pulled herself back with three birdies from the rest of the round and ended it with a neat under-2. 

Improving on her decent first round, Korda scored five birdies in the second round. The one bogey she sustained gave her a round-two score of 4-under. At 6-under, she finished the second round with a shared seventh position.
