Zach Johnson made a risky and bold decision when he picked Justin Thomas as one of his wildcard entries. While this decision may have earned a mixed reaction, Johnson is standing firm by his decision. His captain believes that Thomas will find his redemption at the Ryder Cup.
A similar situation is also happening in the female golf world. Star player Lexi Thompson is facing her worst career this season, but come Solheim Cup she proved that the spark is still within her. She is currently one of the top players at Solheim delivering a tight slap to the critics who were questioning her selection. Can Justin Thomas do something similar?

The selection of Thomas has become a matter of hot debate in the golf world. While his fans are happy to see him playing in this year’s Ryder, there are many who are questioning his qualifications to be on the team. But Thomas wanted to be on the team very badly. He did try his best at the Fortinet Championship but by then it was too late.
In fact, he held his breath for weeks before he failed to earn a spot and depended upon Zach. And Johnson took his sweet time with it. But in the end against all odds he finally made it. But this season’s slump of Thomas has left many wondering if he has the potential or not.

But Johnson is not on the list. Showing his faith and trust in JT, Zach called him the emotional leader of the team. About Justin, he has earlier said, “Our emotional leader. He has been the heart and soul of Team USA. In my mind, he was born for this and you just don’t leave JT at home.” Thomas has played in two Ryder Cups in 2018 and 2021 and holds the record of 6-2-1.
With so much support from his captain, Thomas has a huge responsibility on his shoulders. Perhaps he could borrow a page from Lexi Thompson’s handbook, who turned the tables at Solheim.

Lexi Thompson’s salvation at the Solheim Cup
Lexi Thompson is one of the most famous players on the LPGA but just like Thomas she too is struggling badly. After she failed to make the cut at numerous tournaments this year, critics soon circled her questioning if her potential fading. Many also criticized her selection in the Solheim Cup. But Lexi didn’t pay heed to them and concentrated on improving her craft and it is finally paying off. Yesterday in the first round she was paired with Megan Khang and the duo won the round. In fact, she is delivering an incredible performance which is no less than any revival. A part of the credit also goes to her captain Stacy Lewis who had immense faith in her.
Before the event, she had said, “ She never stops working. I think she’s going to figure it out. I really do.” Thompson is proving that Lewis was right to count on her. Now it is Thomas’ turn to perform similarly.
