Tiger Woods turns 50 on December 30, 2025! While fans celebrate the GOAT’s birthday every year, things might be taken up a notch this year. Despite his absence from the course, Woods is still one of the most celebrated golfers in the world. And a special occasion like his 50th birthday will undoubtedly be the highlight at the end of the year. But there may be a few in the world of golf who would not be happy on that day.

John Daly may be one of them. It’s not because he doesn’t admire or respect Tiger Woods. But the 82x PGAT winner turning 50 would mean that he will be allowed to join Daly in the Champions Tour in the coming year. While everyone else is excited about the same, the wild thing doesn’t believe that the GOAT should make the switch just yet. Daly thinks Woods still has the potential to compete at the highest level, and the Seniors Tour won’t be as rewarding for him as the PGA Tour can be.

Long John has faith that the 15x major can be the world no. 1 again. And he will always have Woods’s back as he promised to do so to Earl and Kultia back in the 90s. So the latest report from the Jupiter locals’ camp might not please him too much. Famed journalist Josh Carpenter just tweeted, @SBJ polled the golf industry this spring to find the most marketable men’s player. The results ⬇️.” The article by Sports Business Journal discussed how Woods is still the most influential golfer in the world as compared to the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and Bryson DeChambeau.

SBJ also looped in Woods’s manager, Mark Steinberg, into the conversation as he talked about the impact of his boss. Speaking about the Florida citizens’ commitment to golf, he said, “We can’t go to existing partners or potential partners and say he’s going to play 15-17 events around the globe.” But Steinberg also mentioned how Woods’s involvement still brings in the numbers. He added, “But there are other areas where he can be branded. Ancillary businesses that he’s gotten involved with, whether it’s PopStroke or TGL, those bring new platforms for partner opportunities.”

The article discusses all the brands Woods is connected with through TMRW Sports, which include TGL, PopStroke, TGR Design, and Sun Day Red. This led to Steinberg mentioning, “Let’s face it, when he does play it, even if on a more limited basis than the past, it’s still in the very highest of profile of events. Regardless of where he is on that leaderboard, he’s going to have pretty much every shot shown on television.” SBJ journalist also mentions how despite limited events, brands get maximum exposure every time Woods plays.

The article states that Tiger Woods’s manager believes that things won’t change much in terms of his image even when he “does dabble on the 50-and-older tour.” To that, Steinberg himself commented, “He’s such a global icon that there’s going to be interest in him being a part of companies even when he’s not playing.” And senior golfers like John Daly, Bernhard Langer, and Ernie Els will greatly benefit from all the attention he would bring to the Champions Tour.

Have an interesting take?

In fact, other veteran golfers have been a lot more eager to have Tiger Woods on the Seniors Tour. Let’s see what they had to say about it.

Tiger Woods gets approval from legends despite John Daly’s hesitance

Unlike John Daly, there are many on the Senior Tour who are extremely eager about Tiger Woods’s eventual arrival. In fact, earlier this year, Mark Calcavecchia mentioned how the Champions Tour should open the gates for Woods early. The 64-year-old tweeted, “Let him (Tiger Woods) play now I say,” as he discussed the GOAT finally turning 50 at the end of the year.

Senior Tour legend, Bernhard Langer was also enthusiastic about Tiger Woods’s eventually joining the legends. He said, “I’m convinced he will play several events. Depends how many. I’m going to gradually get older and older here, and I may not be at the very top of my game when he comes out, but he always moves the needle.” Langer believes that having Woods on the PGA Tour Champions will benefit everyone even if he himself won’t be a frequent flyer on it by then.

With only a few months left for Tiger Woods to turn 50, do you think he should listen to John Daly and compete in the PGA Tour next year or join Bernhard Langer and co. on the Seniors Tour the first opportunity he gets? Let us know in the comments section.
