Tony Finau won last November in Houston Open and has remained in the top 10 of the leaderboard in the tournaments. Finau played consistently well in 11 starts, securing eight top-10 finishes, but couldn’t increase his tally of five PGA Tour victories. This was both satisfying and vexing for him. He gave a fantastic performance on Sunday at Vidanta Vallarta. But who stole the final show in Mexico? It was Team Finau.

Tony Finau’s special family members steal the show at Mexico Open

Finau, 33, has shown a stellar performance in the tournament this weekend. On the final day, Finau’s most impressive performance was during the first half of the game. Despite leaving a bunker shot in the sand on the sixth hole, he was able to recover and make par. Similarly, on the eighth hole, he faced a challenging bunker shot that didn’t make it to the green. However, he impressively sunk a 15-foot putt from the fringe to save par.

Although, something and someone else stole the limelight from Finau. We don’t think Finau would mind these little guys stealing the show, as it was the adorable duo of his sons.

After Tony Finau won, his sons were interviewing each other and asked each other hard-hitting questions. His younger son asked his elder brother to give everyone a quick “outfit check real fast.” Jraice Finau, the eldest son, twirled around giggling and showed everyone his attire for the day.

Another question popped up and it was about what Jraice Finau was more excited about, “the tournament, dad winning or you playing in the pool?” To which he replied, “I didn’t understand but me playing in the pool.” He was quick to change his answer to “Dad playing.”

Tony Finau’s incredible win at Mexico Open

Finau did not give any chance to anyone out there on Sunday, not even the Masters Champion, Jon Rahm. The last time Finau was at Vidanta Vallarta, he lost to Rahm by 1 shot and ended as a runner-up. But this time was different.

The golfer has a gap of 5 years between his 1st and 2nd victory on the PGA Tour. Finau has added another win to his tally this season, making it two victories so far. The first one was in the Houston Open last autumn. He now shares the distinction of being a multiple winner on tour this season with Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and Max Homa. Finau has amassed four PGA Tour titles within the last nine months.

Tony Finau took the 2 shot lead when he entered the final round. He closed with a bogey-free round of 5-under 66 on Sunday. This gave him a 3-shot victory in the Mexico Open.

Finau earned $1,386,000 for his sixth PGA Tour win and climbed to the 11th position in the world rankings.
