Masters Champions dinner 2023 is still two weeks away but has created a serious buzz. Golf fans have already given a thumbs-up to the menu created by Scottie Scheffler. And now the new member of the LIV Golf League, Bubba Watson, cannot stop thinking about it and is waiting for it. Earlier, an NHL legend called him boring, but his dinner might take many interesting twists and turns. But now the question is, why is Watson looking forward to the dinner?
Is Bubba Watson drooling over the 2023 Masters Champions dinner menu?
Watson is a man of comfort food. None of the menus before intrigued him. He wasn’t salivating when Hideki Matsuyama served up sashimi. The same must have been the case in 2018 when Sergio Garcia plated Spanish lobster rice; or a year before that when Adam Scott chose a starter of artichoke and arugula salad with calamari. Garcia has been Watson’s fellow player, and not having a good menu was a betrayal for the RangeGoats GC captain.

However, this year’s Scheffler’s dinner menu is yelling comfort food. And Watson cannot wait for it. He revealed a secret on Thursday from the LIV event in Tucson. The pro said, “I’ll give you a secret. Normally I eat before, eat a couple burritos before I go to the dinner, because I don’t know what they’re going to have.” The LIV defector further added, “But when I saw [Scheffler’s] menu, definitely want the dessert, and I definitely want a couple sliders. So yeah, I can’t wait.”

When Scheffler won the Masters in 2022, Paige Spiranac predicted the next year’s dinner menu to be boring. “I think that his champions dinner next year is going to be boring.” She even pointed out the same menu, “it’s going to be like mac and cheese, steak. Beans and coleslaw That’s going to be the meal.” But once the menu of 2023 was released, it received approval from the golf fans. And not just that, even the former PGA Tour pro is waiting to chomp on the delicious steaks.

What will this year’s dinner bring to the table?
There has been much talk about this year’s dinner, but less about what Scheffler will serve, and more about the environment. What will happen when PGA Tour stalwarts and LV defectors like Watson, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, and Sergio Garcia sit shoulder-to-shoulder at the same table?
Is Mickelson going to receive the cold shoulder from Fred Couples? Will Jordan Spieth and Reed will have a steak fight? Will Garcia receive a dinner roll from Ben Crenshaw? Watson said he does not expect any fireworks on his part. He said, “I still reach out on their birthdays, reach out at Christmas. We still talk. I still watch and pull for my guys.”
