Tom Kim, the rising star from South Korea, won the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open and his caddie, Joe Skovron, has been an integral part of his journey. 

Both of them share a good bond with each other and have achieved many milestones in a short span of time. In a recent interview, the 21-year-old golfer describes his unique relationship with his caddie. 

More than a Caddie: The Brotherly Bond between Kim and Joe

Still only 21, Kim has got a shoulder of support in the form of his caddie, Joe Skovorn. The experienced caddie has become a source of knowledge for the young South Korean in his adventures on the PGA Tour. Besides, their relationship has become a brotherly bond, according to the golfer.

“The journey that me and Joe have had, he’s not just my caddie. He’s really my big brother now,” Kim said. “I would not have been able to get my third win this fast without him. So, you know I love him to death, and I’m very grateful that I have the opportunity, we have the opportunity to work together as a team. This one really goes out to him because he’s the best dude I’ve known.”

Their bond extends beyond the greens even though it’s been a year since both of them teamed up. Skovron’s experience and guidance have been crucial in Kim’s success as they together form a formidable team that complements each other’s strengths. 

A former caddie of Rickie Fowler, Skovron’s insights and game plan have paid off for Kim. Their player-caddie conversations grab everyone’s attention as they discuss shots and strategies with precision. 

Moreover, when Kim secured his third PGA Tour title, he duly credited Skovron for being his support system.

Kim and Joe have achieved remarkable milestones together as the former won at the Wyndham Championship, More impressively, he became the youngest player to achieve this feat since 2013.
