Billy Horschel is receiving a lot of heat for his TGL debut. The reason? He trying to rock the famous ‘Dirty Bird’ dance during his entrance. Fans did not like it, but did that bother him? Not so much. The official account of the Smylie Show featuring the ex-PGA Tour pro, Smylie Kaufman, shared a bit from one of their recent podcasts wherein they were discussing the events of the 2016 Farmers Insurance Cup. The tournament was cursed with strong wind, and players were finding it extremely difficult to hit their strokes. Both Kaufman and Colt Knost were on the field playing in the 60 miles/hour wind.
Speaking about the event, Knost mentioned how it was extremely difficult to judge what the ball would do. He also talked about the “insane putt” he made at the third hole. That got a reaction from Kaufman as he was wondering how Knost made that putt. The 39-year-old shared that he was quite hesitant about hitting the shot. Hence, the officiant asked him if he would like to continue playing from the same spot tomorrow due to the drastic conditions.
Well, some players did pick that option, but that didn’t do them any favors. Knost mentioned how the wind was “blowing 40 out of the other way,” suggesting that the wind started blowing at 40 miles/hour in the other direction on the next day. That’s when Kaufman mentioned, “I was in Phoenix, waking up and watching it when the wind switched. I just kept on moving up, and I was like, This is the best.” The ex-PGA Tour player was going up the leaderboard in the tournament because players who opted to play the next day were dropping points.

Billy Horschel, who was also playing in the tournament, reshared the post giving his take on what happened. He said, “I decided to finish the hole after the horn blew and made bogey to fall outside the top 10. Just like you Smylie, woke up in Phoenix to watch myself move up the leaderboard and finish 7th I believe”. Horschel actually finished 8th in the tournament with 1-under par 287.

Snedeker was the eventual winner of the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open. Every other player on the course had to manage to score par or higher in the final round. However, Snedeker was the only one to end up with 3-under par 69 to top the table. His brilliant efforts helped him win the Farmers Insurance title in January 2016.
