Dustin Johnson has become one of the star names in the golf circuit, which has considerably elevated his brand value. Indeed, a host of sponsors have run behind his signature, with brands often inking a long-term deal. However, the two-time major championship winner’s switch to the LIV Golf Series has significantly affected his image in the golf community, which has left sponsors worried.
The uneasiness was visible when a multinational firm terminated its contract with Johnson after 15 long years. Yet, it looks like the golfer has found an able replacement already.

Why did Dustin Johnson end his 15-year-long sportswear contract?
The 38-year-old made waves early in his career, which prompted many companies to seek his signature. Among others, sportswear giants Adidas joined hands with Johnson for a long-term deal, thus instilling their beliefs in the rising talent.
The move paid off, as Johnson rose to become one of the best golfers on the PGA Tour. He emerged victorious in 24 PGA Tour events, including two major championships. He also held the World No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) for a brief period.
Unsurprisingly, all of Johnson’s accolades were captured with Adidas footwear. The 38-year-old became the $20 billion worth company’s primary ambassador in the sport, but the relationship came to an abrupt end recently.

Leading a team at the controversial LIV Golf Series, Johnson’s reputation has taken a massive hit. Indeed, it left both sides feeling uneasy about the contract, including the golfer himself, whose team, 4Aces, is looking for sponsorships.
The two parties eventually decided to end their contract mutually in February this year. While only pleasantries were dished out for the reporters, a source claimed that DJ’s commitments towards his LIV Golf franchise played a huge role in the decision.
“As good as the relationship with Adidas has been, it just didn’t fit in his plans,” it claimed. “A major part of starting a team is establishing a brand identity and building that brand. The primary asset is the shirt.”

While his brand value might have taken a hit, Johnson remains one of the best golfers around. The individual winner of the inaugural LIV Golf Series wasn’t left without a major footwear brand for long, as the golfer was seen sporting FootJoy shoes in LIV Golf’s latest promotional video.
