The past week saw an engaging rivalry between the US team and their European counterparts at the Ryder Cup. But what grabbed the spotlight apart from the latter’s victory was the rumors surrounding a rift in the American team followed by Max Homa’s tweet slamming down those allegations. But even so, a lot of damage was done to the team’s reputation by the time the tournament ended on Sunday.
Nevertheless, the Luke Donald-led team managed to grasp this opportunity and prove their group’s substance in the game. Moreover, the captain’s pick Justin Rose made sure to chip into the conversation to declare their team’s significance, a comparison drawn with the losing team no less!

Rose was placed in the Ryder Cup team as a wild card pick by the skipper. He didn’t disappoint as the golfer managed to record an overall score of 1-1-1 over three days, helping to push his team to a win. Besides putting up a good performance on the course, he was all praise for his squad in the post-round presser.
The 43-year-old mentioned how the champions were “united by a culture” and “a generation of players” that came before them. Moreover, emphasizing the importance of their predecessors, the Englishman pointed out how they are just taking care of the stage that was passed on to them by their “amazing role models” who taught them how to do it.
Continuing on his response, Rose indicated how “a good pairing on the European team doesn’t mean playing with your best mate,” while slightly taking a jab at their rivals. The American team had gone ahead to pair the golfers up with their friends, such as Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth in the Friday Four-balls. Moreover, the 11X PGA Tour champ, backed up by Rory McIlroy, made sure to convey how playing in such a prestigious tournament is all about representing something bigger than oneself, all the while expressing his belief as a Ryder Cup player.
The comment by the European star is likely to show the Americans in a bad light. However, the US members have a different opinion as one of their golfers took to his social media to convey the same, none other than Max Homa.
Max Homa’s tweet about his American squad
Certain reports amid the competition signaled a possible rift in the squad owing to Patrick Cantlay and his ‘Hat Gate’ controversy. The golfer was alleged to be protesting about Ryder Cup players not getting any money from their participation.
However, such rumors were squashed by Homa through his tweet following their loss to the European rivals. The American golfer took to his Twitter handle to express his love for the team as he pointed out how “anybody who doesn’t think this is as tight of a group as possible is dead wrong.”

Brutal to not get the W for 🇺🇸 but I love this team so much. Anybody who doesn’t think this is as tight of a group as possible is dead wrong. It was an honor to be with this crew and I hope with all my heart I get to do it again sometime and come out on the winning side. No 🧢

Moreover, the 32-year-old mentioned how it was an honor to be part of the Zach Johnson-led squad all the while hoping to do the same in the future, albeit gloriously. He added “No 🧢” at the end in a bid to poke at Cantlay’s controversy that arose during the biennial event.
