The Ryder Cup will be kicking off in September at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, close outside Rome. Both team captains are ready to add a few more players to their teams for this biennial men’s golf match as the qualification dates approach.

Among many contenders, one name is highly anticipated to qualify for the Europe team, and it is none other than Rory McIlroy. But is there any chance he won’t compete in the September event after emulating Tiger Woods? Let’s find out.

Luke Donald, the captain of the European team, had to choose the best players for the team for the coveted Ryder Cup. As the qualification deadline approaches, there are a few individuals who will undoubtedly be invited to Rome in September.

On that basis, it won’t be shocking if McIlroy is considered for the same. Yes, according to the Nosferatu, four players have almost entered the competition. Nosferatu shared the details regarding the same on their Twitter account.

In the post, we can see mentioned four names in reference to the RyderCup Stats. According to the Twitter account, four players are already mathematically locked in for the upcoming tournament. Scottie Scheffler and Wyndham Clark are on the list for the USA Team, whereas Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm are on the list for Team Europe.

Given his outstanding performance in the Scottish Open, the Northern Irish Professional golfer was an obvious choice for the competition. Not to mention his outstanding performance in the US Open, when he finished second on the leaderboard.

How well did McIlroy play in the Major for the last two years?

The 34-year-old golfer has scored a decent number in the last two calendar years. McIlroy has stood seven times in Top-10 finishes which is a very rare case. The last time any golfer did the same was Tiger Woods in the year 2005-2006.

However, the four-time major champion was unable to win a single tournament in this year’s recent majors. In addition, he also failed to triumph in the Open Championship and finished sixth on the leaderboard. Nonetheless, his prospects of getting to Rome are far higher.
