John Daly has never been one to let obstacles slow him down. After a left-hand condition that forced him to withdraw from multiple tournaments in 2024, including the Chubb Classic and PGA Championship, golf’s beloved rebel underwent emergency surgery in January. Yet true to his resilient spirit, he was already looking ahead, sharing an optimistic update with his fans: “Thank you to Doc McClimans for getting me mended back! Should be hitting em again soon!”

While recovering from his latest surgery, Daly isn’t sitting idle. He’s breathing new life into The Lion’s Den, his innovative membership platform that first launched in December 2024. “Hey, everybody, John Daly. Come join Lion’s Den, my home. A lot of improvements, it’s going to be a great time. Hey, keep your handicap there and everything else. Come see us at the Lion’s Den. God bless you, grip it and rip it! Come grip it and sip it with me!” said Daly about his venture at the time of launch.

Now back at the helm, Daly aims to take The Lion’s Den to new heights. How? For a short time, the next few members will 50% off for life. The veteran just shared this on the social media. You see, the Lion’s Den isn’t just another golf membership—it’s Daly’s vision for democratizing the sport.

Starting at just $9 monthly for the amateur tier, members gain access to GHIN handicap tracking, exclusive merchandise, and early access to Daly-branded gear drops. The Pro tier ($25/month) ups the ante with a free annual round at Daly’s Lion’s Den Golf Club in Dardanelle, Arkansas, premium gear, including a Melin hat and Pro V1 golf balls, and priority registration for special events.

But it’s the VIP tier ($200/month) that truly showcases the golfer’s commitment to creating unique experiences. Members get to enjoy unlimited rounds at the Lion’s Den course, custom-fitted clubs designed by Daly himself, personalized coaching sessions, and exclusive invitations to events like karaoke nights and private parties featuring country music stars. “We want to keep it fun and affordable” has been Daly’s mantra throughout this initiative.

John Daly’s history of defying the odds

Health setbacks have become familiar territory for golf’s beloved rebel. Standing as the only player permitted to use a cart during tournaments due to osteoarthritis, Daly has never let physical limitations define his game. Despite managing type 2 diabetes and knee issues, he maintained an impressive 15 out of 16 cuts-made record on the PGA Tour Champions through 2024.

His resilience showed particularly in December 2022 when, just days after competing in the PNC Championship alongside his son John Daly II, he underwent his second major knee surgery—a left knee replacement to match his right knee operation from 2019. His determination showed as he returned to competitive play within months of each surgery.

Even more challenging was his battle with bladder cancer in 2020. Facing an 85% chance of relapse after his initial surgery, Daly didn’t step back from competition. Instead, he made lifestyle changes. He reduced his smoking and Diet Coke consumption, as opposed to smoking two packs of cigarettes, eating four Snickers bars, and drinking two bottles of Coke throughout the 18 holes.

A year earlier, in 2019, a seemingly routine vacation in England turned dangerous when a brown recluse spider bite led to sepsis and emergency surgery. True to form, Daly was back on the course within months, grip-it-and-rip-it style.

The Lion’s Den represents more than just a membership platform—it’s another chapter in Daly’s story of resilience. As he recovers from his latest surgery with characteristic optimism, one thing remains clear: counting out John Daly has always been a losing bet.
