Have you noticed how the former POTUS Donald Trump has a bright smile when he is in a good mood? It carries a bit of innocence and child-like enthusiasm. Especially when he visits golf courses and indulges in his passion for golf.

Well, he is probably not gonna smile about the recent developments regarding one of his investments in golf. A legal battle he had been fighting in connection to his golf links in New York has resulted in a major setback for the 77-year-old businessman.

The legal battle against Trump to retain the New York golf course he had leased from the city has now ended. The conflict started after an incident at the Capitol in 2021. It was New York City’s mayor, Bill de Blasio, who initiated the case, and after almost three years, has come to an end.

The 20-year lease Trump signed for the golf course at Ferry Point, in Bronx, New York, will soon lose validity. This is although it’s only been nine years since its term began. Trump’s name will not be a part of the city-owned Ferry Point course going forward. Of course, this will become effective after the Bally’s fulfills the terms put forth by the court.

Bally’s is an entertainment business, which has now got the license to maintain and run the golf course. Additionally, it will also buy land surrounding the course. The 34 acres of land are in consideration for purchase, of which 17 acres will go to the city’s park department after approvals are granted.

While it’s pretty dire news for Trump, this is not the only golf-related issue that could keep him awake. There is the unsettled cold war with the PGA Tour that still hasn’t arrived at a treaty.

The history of the PGA Tour’s dynamics with Donald Trump

You may remember that the PGA Tour had not used Trump-run golf courses for quite a while. Owing to his political decisions after his presidential campaign and while he held office, the Tour tried to be distant from the former POTUS.

Despite the PGA Tour stepping back from its associations with Trump and the courses he owned/controlled, Trump was not worried. He shared a good rapport with LIV Golf and was confident about the merger coming through. Some of LIV Golf’s biggest events have found a home in Trump’s courses, which looks set to continue for the time being.
