Cheyenne Woods recently reflected on her family’s challenging yet rewarding journey with her daughter, Maya, at the start of 2025. As she shared, “I can’t help but get emotional when thinking about the year that we have had. Honestly, Maya is way stronger than me, but we’ve grown so much together.” Despite the hardships, Cheyenne Woods is filled with immense pride for how far they’ve come.
“2024 nearly broke me and it challenged me in ways I wasn’t prepared for, but we made it through. I am so grateful for all the growth our family made happen together this year,” she wrote. In her heartfelt post, Woods opened up more about Maya’s feeding journey, something that took them down unexpected paths. “Maya and I spent last New Year’s Eve in the hospital, not knowing the journey 2024 would be,” she explained.
What Cheyenne Woods hadn’t anticipated was how Maya’s breathing condition and severe reflux would make feeding impossible and hinder her weight gain. This led to the difficult decision to start tube feeding when Maya was just eight weeks old. For the next ten months, Maya was fully dependent on tube feeds. Woods described the emotional strain, saying, “She was throwing up 15+ times a day and throughout the nights. We were extremely limited with places we could go or any activities I could try to expose her to.” They found themselves living in a bubble, only leaving for doctor appointments and therapy sessions.

She recently even shared what helped her the most through the process. Dominique Grossman, who is a pediatric occupational therapist at the Newborn Flow LLC in Arizona, recently shared how she helps infants who suffer from feeding reflux or tension. Cheyenne Woods reshared the post and expressed her gratefulness to the doctor. “Dominque has helped us SO much through our journey with Maya. So knowledgeable and passionate about helping moms and babies. So grateful to have found you,” she wrote while sharing the story.
