Is Paige Spiranac's honesty about her handicap a sign of true sportsmanship or just damage control?

Golfer Paige Spiranac certainly has a huge fan following all across her social media, but we all know, that comes with its pros and cons. While some fans are always there to support her every move, some are just there to pull her down. And a recent case of that was seen after her Creator Classic performance where she finished with a decent score of 2 over par. While the golfer was happy with her score some of the haters were not!

The PGA Tour posted a picture of Luke Kwon, congratulating the golfer on having won the 2024 Creator Classic and Spiranac commented on the post, hyping up the winner. Now you’ll say what’s so unusual about that? Well, there is, something unusual. A fan replied to Spirance’s comment by saying, “You said you were a +3 handicap 😂😂😂😂😂😂”, mocking the golfer. Well, Spiranac has claimed that she has 3+ handicaps in the past, but the haters didn’t believe her as her score didn’t speak for the numbers. So is the golfer lying? No, not at all.

One thing Spiranac is known for is her ability to reply to the haters boldly, and that’s exactly what happened here. Spiranac’s current golf handicap index is +3.4, according to the USGA Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN) app and she was ready to fire back with that. “Go check my GHIN lol a +3.4 to be exact”, said the golfer, shutting up the haters.

This is not the first time the golfer had to prove her handicap to her fans. Earlier in June 2024, the golfer had to explain the whole handicap thing to the haters while giving the stats.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Paige Spiranac's honesty about her handicap a sign of true sportsmanship or just damage control?

Have an interesting take?

First, she explained that a + handicap is actually better than a scratch.  And then she broke down how golf handicaps work, because let’s be real, it can be confusing. She even threw in some shade, saying that pros don’t keep handicaps, but if they did, Tiger Woods would be around a +9, can you believe it?

But the trolls kept coming, with one fan saying she wouldn’t even break 90 on his home course. Oh, but Spiranac was ready for him! She dropped the bombshell by sharing her scores from some of the toughest courses in the country – including a 74 at Pine Valley and a 75 at Oakmont. Which, let’s be real, is a pretty great score.
