Does the Tour Championship's weather chaos separate the true champions from the rest?

Rain once again played spoilsport for the PGA Tour. The second round of the Tour Championship was suspended at 5:15 pm ET due to a small band of thunderstorms moving through the area, causing a delay in play. Eight players were still on the golf course when the suspension occurred. Play resumed at 6:48 pm, resulting in a pause of 1 hour and 33 minutes.

At the time of the suspension, Scottie Scheffler was 19-under par, holding a four-stroke lead over Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele. Scheffler and Morikawa, who were part of the final group of the day, were on the 16th fairway when play was halted. However, by the end, Schauffele slipped down to solo 3rd, with Morikawa in solo second and Scheffler still on top. What will be the fate of the players on Saturday?

According to AccuWeather reports, on Saturday, East Lake will not only have a Max UV Index of 10, which is very high, but some areas will also experience thunderstorms. “Some sunshine giving way to clouds with a thunderstorm in spots this afternoon,” says the forecast. The temperature is predicted to reach a high of 33°C and a low of 24°C. The wind will be blowing from the ENE at a speed of 13 km/h, which shouldn’t cause much trouble.

However, with wind gusts reaching 22 km/h and 50% cloud cover, the weather might be disruptive, potentially leading to lower visibility. There’s also a 48% chance of rain and a 29% chance of thunderstorms. The rain is expected to have a density of 4.7 mm with a duration of about an hour. So, if you’re planning to watch the match live, don’t forget to carry your umbrella and find a seat that offers full coverage.
