Being a LIV golfer, participation in majors and the Ryder Cup is doubtful. But despite having the restriction and fines, some players have made it possible to have a showing. Only some, and that is all, because of the rules and exemptions. When Jon Rahm moved to LIV Golf, Rory McIlroy pleaded that the rules of Ryder Cup participation should be changed just because Rahm should be able to play. Partiality? Could be. This disparity between the players has led to a professional saying, “The Tour has not treated everyone the same way.” Earlier, Lee Westwood voiced out during an interview with iNews, sharing about the DP World Tour’s manipulative dealings.

The golfer said, “They have not treated Rahm and Hatton the same way they treated me, Poults, and Stenson. They [Rahm and Hatton] haven’t paid their fines either, but their appeal dates have been pushed back until after the Ryder Cup. They have basically kicked the can down the road for those players. They keep fining them but they will be eligible for the team. This is another aspect that has to be addressed if we ever sit around the table.”

Westwood felt the ignorance from the DPWT against Hatton and Rahm for the Ryder Cup. According to him, both of LIV stars were on the selection list for the Ryder Cup, while Westwood himself, along with Poulter and Henrik Stenson, got ignored. The Englishman has approximately $1.13 million in fines, which he appealed. However, his appeal was rejected, unlike Rahm’s and Hatton’s.

Westwood is the eighth most successful player in the DP World Tour with 25 titles under his name. Not just this, but he has also had a successful presence at the Ryder Cup with 11 appearances and 7 victories. But his being on the wrong side of the Tour has led to sharing harsh words of truth for the DP World Tour. Now, just some time after the frustration laid out by Westwood, another fresh DPWT update has surfaced.

NUCLR Golf shared a post on X stating that the DP World Tour is currently finalizing a deal to hold an official event at Trump International Golf Links Aberdeen in Scotland. The event would likely be slated for early August and replace the Czech Masters. The Czech Masters have been called off by the official after failing to finalize the venue. The Tour had added an unnamed event to the calendar scheduled for August 7, and it looks like it is going to take place in Scotland.

The Trump International Golf Links is aimed to be “the world’s best golf course” and bring some of the world-class events like the Open Championship to the course, as per President Trump. Now, with the talks on having a European Event in 2025, it is a strong move towards being recognized for the top courses.

Well, away from getting another course on the international schedule. Trump has been on the move with his involvement with LIV.

Donald Trump to be at the LIV Golf event

Apart from the talks with DP World Tour, the Trump National Doral Course in Miami is already part of the LIV Golf schedule. The LIV Golf Miami is teeing off on Apr 4th, but what has made the headlines is Trump’s presence.

President Trump is officially en route to Florida for the event. Trump has spent most of his time in Florida as compared to Washington, D.C., since taking charge. And as expected, he will attend a LIV Golf dinner at his golf club. Even for the week, FAA temporary flight restrictions “for VIP movements” have shared their schedule confirmation. The POTUS also plans on giving a speech for players while at dinner. The president, who arrived in Miami, Florida, on April 3rd, will leave for Palm Beach on Sunday, April 6.

With the great involvement of Trump in the game of golf, the fans are hoping for a merger soon. But away from the merger, the new updates are causing concern for some players. What are your thoughts on it? Share with us in the comments below.
