The sensational 2023 Ryder Cup finale has left the golf world in shock. Team Europe has proven its mantle with a glamorous matchplay on the Roman grounds, leaving the United States in a state of despair. The Americans faced a churning defeat at the hands of the European pros, and not just that, the PGA Tour players have also become a laughing stock for the European crowds, leaving them frustrated.
Many players became the European public’s target this season, and while some were the subject because of their on-course behavior, others faced scrutiny because of their retaliation to the crowd through their matchplay. One among them was Max Homa, whose spouse recently updated the fans about his concerning state.

The PGA Tour player has been under the limelight all weekend after his remarkable performance on the greens. At this year’s Ryder Cup, Homa won both the Saturday matches, showcasing his prowess in foursomes and fourballs alongside Brian Harman, the 2023 Open Championship winner.
After USA’s Sunday loss at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club, the team has been a little low in spirit. But Homa has stood up against all odds, defending his team’s honor and expressing his immense pride in their efforts.
In a tweet posted on his personal Twitter, Homa admitted, “Brutal to not get the W for 🇺🇸 but I love this team so much. Anybody who doesn’t think this is as tight of a group as possible is dead wrong.”
Brutal to not get the W for 🇺🇸 but I love this team so much. Anybody who doesn’t think this is as tight of a group as possible is dead wrong. It was an honor to be with this crew and I hope with all my heart I get to do it again sometime and come out on the winning side. No 🧢

Homa’s candid assertion has endeared him to fans, who admire his camaraderie and commendable matchplay skills. However, some fans have noticed a humorous connection between his Twitter post and his wife, Lacey Croom’s recent update on Instagram.
As the team buckles back for America, Homa’s wife shared a behind-the-scenes moment from the greens: a picture of Homa with his head resting on the table. Homa reposted the image on his Instagram with the caption “Unwell,” eliciting a mix of concern and amusement from fans.
It rounds off a sad end to Homa’s Roman adventure, which was filled with fairway drives and angry reactions. Indeed, the latter made the news for all the wrong reasons.

Homa receives backlash from the European fans in Rome
A recent incident dating back to the Saturday foursome matches made Max Homa lose his gameplay cadence on the course. The PGA pro became the crowd’s target for yelling. The hostile viewers kept making critical remarks as the player was in the middle of his game, and that made Homa yell back in retaliation.
In a recent interview, Homa clarified what had happened on the course, stating that the team got yelled at a lot, and at one point, after he fatted his first chip, an onlooker made a remark to which he turned back and said something in return. He also recalled advice from Justin Thomas about embracing the freedom to act like an idiot at such events, reflecting his spirited approach to the game.
