Is Tiger Woods' recovery the silver lining the PGA Tour needs right now?

How was the 2024 season for Tiger Woods? For someone who has been dealing with pain in various parts of the body, 2024 was unfortunately no different. Even though he played only five events the whole season, the golfer was going through lower back pain. He was even seen using adhesive patches during the Masters this year. Still, he stood tall and made it to the end. The 15x major winner underwent surgery to feel better and is now back with good news.

Recently TW shared a post on X, revealing that his lumbar spine surgery for nerve impingement was a success and is “looking forward to tackling this rehab.” Not only that, Woods will also focus on golf following recovery and further added “Preparing myself to get back to normal life activities including golf.” Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi of the Hospital of Special Surgery operated.

A few days ago, a meeting was held in New York where several PGA Tour officials were expected to discuss the merger with the Saudi wealth fund. However, Tiger Woods did not attend instead he was in the town for his foundation. Back in 2014, Woods withdrew from the Masters for the first time because of a pinched nerve. During the PGA Championship this year, he was asked about the back pain update. As a response, the golfer said “It’s not different. At that time, I was maybe one back procedure into it. Now it’s a hell of a lot more than that number.”

While talking about it, Tiger Woods further added, “Back is now fused, as you know. Yeah, coming into 2014, I wasn’t feeling very good. But I’m always going to feel soreness and stiffness in my back, but that’s okay. I just need other body parts to start feeling better.” Will he be able to feel better following the surgery? Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, witnessing this good news, fans are looking forward to Woods’s recovery and showering him with prayers.

Most fans are simply hoping for the golfer to recover soon, and they expressed their thoughts with comments like “Coming back stronger than ever,” “Speedy recovery, Mr. Woods!” “Get well soon, King,” etc., hoping that following the rehab the golfer will come back strong to grace the greens again.

Tiger Woods experiences pain in nearly every part of his body, but his ankle and back have been the most troublesome. In 2021, he suffered a segmental tibia fracture and a talus injury in his ankle, leg, and foot. In 2024, his back became the primary concern. Considering that this fan simply expressed his desire by saying, “Tiger, I’d like to donate my leg and back to you. Let me know what I need to do,” as the back and ankle are also the most important body parts while playing golf.

Woods’s unfortunate connection with surgeries started back in December 1994 when he went through left knee surgery to remove scar tissue and two benign tumors. Now, after more than 25 years, the number has gone to more than 8 after this year’s lower back surgery. This fan is concerned about that and suggested retirement, saying, “Time to put away the bag and enjoy retirement before you do irreparable harm. Best of luck with recovery.” Highlighting that the human body has a limit and they don’t want to suffer from permanent damage that can’t be treated with surgery or medications.

Despite going through significant pain, the golfer has 15 major and 82 PGA Tour wins to his name. This fan misses Tiger Woods and says, “The Journey of Bionic Tiger continues. Let’s pray this correction unleashes the Tiger we sorely miss.” Also highlighting that the unfortunate saga of surgeries continues this year with lumbar spine surgery. This year, he did compete in all four majors, but it was not like the Tiger Era fans dearly miss. The golfer missed the cut in three majors. Expressing similar thoughts, another added, “Tiger, you will always be the goat. Thanks for all the magic over the years. Wishing you a speedy recovery.”
