Golf is often seen as a game of precision, skill, and intense focus, and not many would understand that better than Charlie Woods. A new exciting chapter is unfolding in the golfing world as Tiger Woods‘ son is starting to shine as a young star, especially given his recent win at the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship.

Even though Woods Jr. is following his father’s footsteps, the duo share many similarities. But, the two are very different when it comes to certain aspects. Among those, one stands out at the forefront, as the golf world would have noticed—their physiques!

If truth be told, Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods from the same age bracket show interesting similarities and differences. The 15-time major winner found early success in his golfing career. By the time he was 13, he had already won several junior tournaments and shown his competitive spirit. His dominance in junior golf laid the foundation for a legendary career; however, physically, he was very different from his son, who’s at a similar age right now!

Charlie, now 14, is already on a noteworthy path to replicating his father’s success in the sport. However, a notable difference from Woods Sr. when he was that age lies in their stature. Just by looking at their photos, one can tell how much bigger Woods Jr. is than 14-year-old Tiger. Both in terms of height and buffness, the youngster overpowers his father from three decades ago.

His physique for his age is quite ‘big’ as per many in the golf world, including PGA Tour pro Min Woo Lee, who recently even shed light on how his “arms and hands are massive.” This big difference between Charlie and the Woods Jr. also affects other areas of the game in terms of how similar yet different they play.

Another point differentiating him from Tiger Woods when he was younger is their swing, which can arguably be attributed to Woods Jr.’s physique! The buffed-up 14-year-old has a modern swing. While Tiger’s junior swing consisted of quick hip rotations and leg breaks, Charlie’s features modern techniques that emphasize footwork and ground contact.

Charlie’s swing also builds on the role’s stability when it comes to footwork. His rear half of the body is extremely stable throughout. This natural swing combined with the competitive nature that he’s inherited from his father has now set Charlie on a path of greatness, and he flaunts accolade after accolade at his young age!

Charlie’s journey included winning age-group competitions. At 11, he dominated his age group tournament in Florida, posting a score of 3-under-33 and winning with his father as a caddy. In 2022, Charlie continued to impress, finishing first in the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship qualifier in Florida. He also competed in a tournament in Louisiana and finished 11th in a 33-golfer field in the 12–13 age group.
