The game of golf has been seeing much happening in the past couple of weeks with the Scottish Open and the Open Championship. The sport has recently seen a lot of hype with players battling it out with marvelous technique and class on wonderful golf courses that leave the players wanting more.
But just as how the popular quote goes, as long as there is fortune, there will be misfortune, the game also brings with it a fair share of bad news. Moreover, a recent accident on a golf course has left the golfing world shocked and the fans in doubt as to whether the game is experiencing some sort of omen!
The Montana Golf Club collapse

In a recent mishap of sorts, a deck collapsed which led to the injury of more than 30 people who were present to witness or take part in a local golf tournament. The incident occurred at the Briarwood Country Golf Club in Billings on 22nd July, Saturday. While there were no fatalities at the time, the collapse resulted in many being taken to the hospital.

The second floor patio at the Black Bunker Bar and Grill in the club gave way and caved in to the first floor, which caused many head wounds, broken ribs and other such injuries, as people and debris fell on top of each other. While 25 adults among the injured were hospitalized, more than eight people were treated on the scene in the freak accident.

While such an event was unexpected, there have been many instances in the game of golf where unfortunate events have occurred, especially on a golf course. Such occurrences leave the golfing world in a constant fear of a bad omen looming large over the game.
The tragic story of golf courses
The scenic beauty of some golf courses are fated to be destroyed by some natural calamities. While such an event is extremely undesirable, it is something that can neither be controlled nor ignored. Let us now take a look at some of the courses that have recently witnessed some hapless events.
The Fox Run Golf Course in Vermont was recently hit with a severe flood after a torrential downpour of more than 5.5 inches flooded the village’s roads, restaurants and buildings among others.

In another case of devastating floods that wreaked havoc, the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs saw a natural calamity that killed at least 23 people and leaving thousands homeless.
Other examples include the Coal Creek Golf Club in Colorado that took two years to reopen in 2015 after floods in 2013, and Fort McMurray Golf Club in Alberta which suffered a wave of wildfires this past May.
