Brooks Kopeka had a major fallout with his teammate Matthew Wolff in 2023. From the beginning of the year until the last major event, LIV Golf Miami, Kopeka, was critical of Wolff’s position in his team. Smash GC was assumed to be broken up for the 2024 season.
And with LIV Golf being announced to have a transfer market and have players moving from teams, the expectation was that come 2024, Wolff would no longer be serving with Koepka. Now Smash GC has revealed their 2024 roster, and the big question is, is Matthew Wolff on there? And if not, to which team is the “wasted” talent headed?

In early July at the LIV Golf London, Brooks Koepka commented on Matthew Wolff’s work ethic. Wolff had withdrawn from the Washington, D.C., event. Moreover, his prior performance in Sotogrande also had him at the bottom of the leaderboard.
As a captain, Koepka had a few things to say about him. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, he said, “I’ve basically given up on him—a lot of talent, but I mean, the talent’s wasted.” It did not stop there. Moving forward to LIV Golf Jeddah, Koepka again remarked, saying that he had only three players in the team.
The harsh remarks by Smash GC’s captain were truly “heartbreaking” for Wolff, as he released a statement to Sports Illustrated. However, even after the great rift between the two, the released roster of Smash GC still has Wolff’s name in it.

Wolff finished 27th in the 2023 standings and was in the open zone. However, the decision about his release or trade with another team will take place in phase three. Or he might be traded in the mid-season of 2024 by Smash GC. As of now, he has secured his place on the team, regardless of the fallout.
With the transfer market open, only four squads will remain with their 2023 players heading into the next season. The rest will all see a revamp!
The four confirmed squads for the LIV Golf 2024 season
The 12 teams have gone through the needed shuffle, while a few of the golfers opted for free agency. Before the 2024 season begins, the LIV Golf teams will fill up the empty spots either by draft or by the three LIV Golf Promotions winners.
