Phil Mickelson is in Rocester this week for the LIV Golf event in the UK. Since joining LIV Golf in 2022, Lefty has failed to replicate the level of success he found on the PGA Tour. He has had only four top-15 finishes, which includes a sixth finish at the Jeddah this year. However, this week seems to be different.
As the LIV Golf event in the UK was completely sold out, Lefty has an opportunity to celebrate. Well, adding to the overpowering spectators, he also confessed, “I found my game (finally). It’s going to be an awesome day.” After two rounds of the tournament, he is at T38, but the HyFlers are third on the leaderboard. This gave the team an exciting opportunity for the fans.

On Saturday, as the second round of LIV Golf UK concluded, the official X page of the HyFlyers GC announced the challenge. With a video of the four players: Phil Mickelson, Brendan Steele, Cameron Tringale, and Andy Ogletree, they invited their fans, along with any friend, to join the captain and any other player of their choice from the team in Chicago.
The challenge will take place at LIV Golf Chicago on September 9 for a 2v2 9-hole match. To register, the participant will need a partner first. Then they will have to record a 90-second video describing why they deserve to be Schmo. Join LIV X, choose HyFlyers GC as your favorite team, and follow their page.
After submitting, the applicant will be directed to the official entry form, which has all the instructions on how to submit the audition video. The portal will be open until August 18 at 11.59 p.m. ET. Phil Mickelson reshared the video and said, “Now’s your chance you and a fellow Schmo can take on me and another high flyer at Liv Chicago.”

Performance of the HyFlyers in 2024
The LIV Golf 2024 season is about to come to an end. There are only four events left before one of the teams is crowned the champion, and currently standing in the 12th position among the thirteen teams, it is time for the HyFlyers GC to buckle up. The team has finished in the 10th and 11th positions at Nashville and Andalucia.

However, things were looking fine before that, as the team had three straight top-8 finishes, which included a second runner-up at Adelaide. Although it might look like a rather difficult challenge, if all four members gear up together, coming on top by the end will be possible. While all the other three members finished at T27, in Andalucia, Ogletree finished at 79. He has to bring about change in his gameplay. All he needs to do is get back to his Adelaide phase, where he finished at T3.
Currently, at the JCB Golf and Country Club, they are ranked third as a team! Do you think the HyFlyers will be able to grab a significant position by the end of the season? Let us know in the comments section below!
