The PGA Tour’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship started yesterday at Port Royal Golf Course, Bermuda. And taking the lead on the first day is pro golfer Adam Long. With 58 consecutive fairways hits, he broke the 31-year-old PGA Tour record of Brian Claar, who made the streak of 59 in 1992. He wrapped up the first round with a 5-under 66.
Speaking about his performance, Long said yesterday, “It’s something I’ll be able to say forever, some sort of bragging rights or an interesting stat at trivia nights.” His feat, of course, would have been impossible had he not had the right equipment to assist him. And in Long’s case, it’s a whole set of TaylorMade weapons that he has that are helping him break records!

So far, Long has won one event, the Dessert Classic in 2019, on the tour. This week he is undoubtedly hoping to double that number, and for that sole purpose, he is using a variety of first-class clubs. Like other elite players, Long too puts his trust in TaylorMade, with all the clubs in his bag being from them and them alone.
For his drivers, he uses TaylorMade’s brand-new SiM driver. Its inertia generator positions weight at the extreme rear for increased forgiveness. It retails for $400.
Long’s Fairway Woods of choice is the TaylorMade M6 wood. It comes with a unique twist-face geometry, which improves accuracy from the tee or off the turf. They sell for $250.
For ball, the golf pro moved away from his trusted brand and uses the Scotty Cameron X5R in combination with the Titleist Pro V1 ball, which is much more popular on the Tour and preferred by many golfers.
With his combination of hybrids and wedges and his trusted driver, Long is soaring to new heights this week. In his interview yesterday, his words even explained how his experience combined with the equipment is helping him excel.
“Hit a hybrid on the first, and then the second fairway’s really hard to hit. Luckily, it was kind of into the wind, so I hit a driver and hung in the fairway somehow and perfectly in the middle,” he said. “So after that, I was just kind of coasting.”

Long’s hybrids and wedges
Going back to TaylorMade once again, Adam uses their M3 Rescue hybrids. They come with a 19-degree loft and feature a new Speed Pocket that provides more flexibility and more speed on low-face strikes. It retails for $180.
For wedges, Long uses three kinds, and they all come from TaylorMade. He carries two milled grind models of 52°and 56°, and the third one is the HI-TOE 60°, option.

Long began this week on the 138th spot of the FedExCup Fall. He wishes to enter the top 125 so he can maintain his status for next year. It remains to be seen whether his strong performance and his brilliantly packed bag will help him get there!
