‘Acting’s Way Easier’: Marvel Star Makes Honest Confession About Golf After Being ‘Blown Away’ by the Pros

Many celebrities over the years have displayed their golf skills in pro-am events. However, not many have a proper golf background like the Hollywood star, Kathryn Newton. The actress competed in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Pro-am tournament and expressed her experience of playing golf against the pros in St. Andrews.

The 25-year-old actress has been making a name for herself in Hollywood a lot recently. Kathryn Newton has starred in the fourth installment of the popular horror movie franchise, ‘Paranormal Activity’ and also played the lead role in Netflix’s drama teen series, ‘The Society.’

She is set to embrace the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as her next role involves being the daughter of Antman, played by Paul Ruud. The movie “Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania”, is expected to release next year. Despite her striving acting career, Newton also has a past devoted to golf.

Kathryn Newton is quite familiar with golf

Newton was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, and had access to a golf club nearby. She managed to get into her high school golf team after a series of standout performances. Moreover, she was reportedly ready to embark on the professional circuit after being prepared to compete at the U.S. Open Women’s Qualifiers but backed out for undisclosed reasons.

Now years later, Kathryn Newton had the opportunity to compete in the home of golf, St. Andrews. The actress was paired with English golfer Matt Wallace in the Pro-am Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. They finished in the 118th position out of 167 teams.

In an interview after the event, Newton finally unloaded her emotions while competing at St. Andrews. “Acting’s way easier than golf”, said the Paranormal Activity actress. Kathryn Newton then expressed her respect for professional golfers. She said, “I (don’t) say that lightly because I have respect for my acting and my fellow actors. When I see the pros out here today, I feel like they’re magicians or something.”

Considering her golf background, Newton is noted to score around 70 regularly. She once even shot 69. However, the actress further added that she will adhere to acting by saying, “I’m pretty blown away by the pros and I think I’m going to stick to acting.”

In the end, the interviewer asked the actress to choose between winning an Oscar, or a Major. Kathryn Newton, with no hesitation, replied, “Win a major, for sure”. The answer itself decodes her love for the sport of golf. It would have been exciting to see her on the professional circuit. Nonetheless, with her acting career on the horizon, she has a promising acting career.
