The first playoff for the FedEx Cup ranking will kickstart this weekend at the $20M worth St, Jude Championship. The field which has been reduced to 70 players now will witness immense competition for the coveted trophy and the first prize. But apart from hosting the event, the FedEx Championship is also involved in a noble gesture.

St Jude also runs a Children’s Research Hospital where children are treated for catastrophic diseases, particularly leukemia, and other cancers. And as players arrived on the field, they got the chance to engage in heartwarming conversations with a few children who are being treated at the hospital.

The PGA Tour Players who are on the grounds of TPC Southwind this week are making the day of terminally ill patients at St Jude by interacting with them. The PGA Tour shared a video on its Twitter (now X) account where players like Jason Day, Victor Hovland, and Max Homa, mingled with the kids who walked with them on the green. The players had long and fun conversations with the children inquiring about their hobbies and what games they play.

While a patient named Alana walked with Jason Day and asked what his favorite place to play was, Day replied UK and South Africa. Another patient named Reynaldo walked with Hovland who explained to the boy the difference between American and Norwegian food.

And the sweetest interaction was that of Max Homa with 11 year old Mabry. Not only did Homa enthusiastically ask Mabry about all her interests and listen to her with utmost interest, but he also gave the little girl his own club and asked her to make a small hit. The children were full of joy as the players clicked selfies with them and wished them good luck for their future.

This gesture from the tour players was heartwarming and noble, and spending some moments of happiness and having deep conversations with these children also went down well with fans who appreciated them.

The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was opened in 1962 by radio and TV personality, Danny Thomas. The hospital treats children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The surgeries are costly but patients are not charged for their care. Hopefully, the good karma of these players and the vibes they took with them with these lovely interactions, will help them with their performances this weekend.
