The war between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf has finally come to an end. The PGA Tour officially announced on Tuesday that it would be merging with its rival Tour. The golf world was undoubtedly shocked by this revelation. While some people are still skeptical about this newly formed fraternity, others are ecstatic about the latest development. 

Gary Player, who is yesteryear’s living legend and took the game to new heights along with his contemporaries like Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, also did not leave his thoughts on the merger in the dust.

Throughout his illustrious professional career, Player has won nine important championships. He won two PGA Championships, three British Opens, three Masters crowns, and one U.S. Open trophy. He is also one of the top players to have completed a career Grand Slam. As one of the most prominent players due to his successful career, his viewpoints are debated and examined.

Gary Player enthusiastically reacted once the PGA Tour’s major decision was officially announced on Twitter. He stated: “This sounds like a great first step towards reuniting the game and bringing the best golfers in the world together, which is great for fans and the game of golf.”

This is not the first time Player has supported LIV Golf. When the Masters week occurred the previous year, the ‘Black Knight’ grabbed headlines. The 87-year-old golfer hit the ceremonial opening tee shot at Augusta National while sporting a sweater bearing the Saudi Golf insignia. He received criticism as a result of his decisions, which undoubtedly created a stir in the golf community. And this time around too, fans are not happy with his statements regarding the merger.
