No sport has ever been on such a roller-coaster ride in the last 2-3 years as Golf, especially since the inception of LIV Golf. But the most shocking announcement came with the announcement of the $3,000,000,000 merger.

In a recent development, PGA Tour’s commissioner Jay Monahan sent a detailed memo to players. And it seems like it is in tune with what LIV Golf’s most vocal supporter, Phil Mickelson, said around a year ago.

Mickelson never runs out of chances to highlight the advantages of being part of the Saudi-backed league. He even said that somehow the LIV benefits the PGA Tour’s players as well. Last year, the LIV loyalist said that ever since the inception of LIV Golf, PGA Tour players have started to get more appreciation from their league. Mickelson expressed his opinion that offering players an alternative was the only way to enable player-friendly changes to the PGA Tour.

The PGA Tour began with more elevated events in order to deter the poaching of its best players. “I would say I’m generally happy that the top players who are really driving the tour and creating the interest are being listened to,” Mickelson said as per Golf Digest. “And what they are doing for the tour is being valued now. I’m happy to see that happen.’’

And now, Monahan comes back with some recent developments to give further weight to Lefty’s remarks. Monahan is back with a bang after resuming his position following a brief break. His latest memo deals not only with his league’s players but with LIV Golf defectors as well.

For the benefit of all the PGA Tour players

After dropping the ‘no-poaching’ clause, the new memo presented by Monahan has stunned everyone. The player Benefit Program and player discipline are the main topics of the memo. The Benefit Program states that devoted Tour players who turned down alluring offers from LIV Golf will get rewarded. To deal with LIV golfers who wish to return to the PGA Tour after defecting, a task team will be established.

Even if Monahan has already given a strong signal regarding the compensation for the Tour players following the merger. Doesn’t it seem like what Mickelson has been suggesting all along? Mickelson is right; after LIV Golf, the PGA Tour is definitely giving more value to its players.
